Inis Meáin is one of the three Aran Islands that lie thirty miles off the western shore of Ireland. It's a place of great beauty but requires resourcefulness to survive. The 'Middle Island' is home to around 200 people, most of whom are involved in the Knitting company in some way.
Guided by a rich history of fisherman sweaters and the distinctive features of the island, Inis Meáin creates some of the most incredible knitwear in the world. The stitches have evolved through the generations and reflect the unique island environment: turbulent, seas and skies, wild flora and labyrinths of stone walls echo in the diamonds, cables, tree of life, moss and other patterns.
