The staff at OHP has officially doubled in size! If you’ve been in the shop lately you’ve probably already met Chris Kidd, our new Director of Sales. I’ve known Chris for years from working together in the industry and am thrilled to have him join our team. He brings a wealth of knowledge on men’s tailoring, and we’re excited to do bigger and bolder things together with him now at the shop (particularly as it relates to our made-to-measure offerings). I wanted to give him a chance to introduce himself to all of you – so Chris, take it from here!

Thanks Drew! I grew up here in Alexandria and worked in Old Town for years. Coming back to work from across the river feels like nothing has changed. I have worked in retail for the past 10 years and in menswear for the last 4. I love talking about clothes, but I’m really in this business because I love talking to people and making connections. Come in and say hi, I’d be happy to share a drink in the shop and get to know each other.
What interests you about menwear?
I think with every season you learn something about what your tastes are and how they’ve changed over time. I think right now is a cool time for menswear. People are taking the time to look into what they are buying, how it’s made, and who’s making it.
How would you describe your style?
I’m pretty simple, I’ll wear a navy suit everyday if I can. As long as it fits well, I’m happy, and I usually throw on a pair of familiar (Alden shell *hyperlink*) tassel loafers to get me ready for the day.

Why did you want to work in menwear?
I was always interested in men's clothes. I got my first pair of Selvedge denim when I was in the 9th grade, and it just went from there. I realized the best way to learn more was to roll up my sleeves and work in the industry myself.
Why did you want to work at OHP?
Drew and I met at Sid Mashburn when both of us worked there. We remained friends and when I saw his vision come to light, I felt like there was an opportunity I couldn’t miss out on. I’m thrilled to join the team (now of 2) to build something special here at OHP.
What’s your favorite item in the shop?
I’ve got 2 answers for this, but one isn’t really a physical item so it still counts. I am very excited about rolling out our Made to Measure program with J Mueser. You’ll soon be able to order their tailoring year-round after a fitting session with me.
If you’re going to make me pick one thing, the navy double breasted suit from Ring Jacket seems to be calling my name. I wasn’t lying earlier when I said a good navy suit just makes me feel right at home.
